Rip Curl

Rip Curl was born in 1969 when two surfing friends Doug "Claw" Warbrick and Brian "Sing Ding" Singer quit their jobs to make surf boards. They lived for adventure, finding and surfing good waves, having a few beers and a good time at night and then doing it all again the next day. The products they make, the events they run, the riders they support and the people they reach globally are all part of The Search that Rip Curl is on, taking joy from the ocean as surfers and keeping the oceans healthy and clean for years to come. The Search is Rip Curl's driving force and vision so whether you are chasing uncharted reefs, untracked powder or unridden rails, Rip Curl will be with you all the way. The Ultimate Surfing Company Rip Curl is a company for and about the crew on The Search.

Ultimate Surfing Company - Why Hardcloud loves Rip Curl

Rip Curl have started their journey towards a more ecologically friendly future, joining the Susutainable Apparel Coalition and the Better Cotton Initiative. Many Rip Curl garments now feature organic cotton, hemp and recycled materials.

Each season more products fall under the Rip Curl "Made with Sustainability in Mind" programme to reduce their global impact and use recycled products.

Rip Curl are pushing forward with their use of recycled materials and can now claim that over 85% of their men's boardshorts now made with Topgreen Recycled Polyester.  What's more, over 90% of their backpacks and travel luggage are now also made from recycled polyester.

Recycled PET comes from recycling old plastic water bottles and produces a strong and durable water repellant fabric that is not just good for the environment but also perfect for water based apparal.

Rip Curl is utilising BLOOMS technology as a high performance, environmentally-conscious replacement for traditional petroleum-based EVAs.  More of their footwear range is being manufactured using this revolutionary new material.

Algae is used to help remove the harmful levels of phosphorus and ammonia present in industrial and agricultural waste-water that is causing ecologically harmful algae blooms and water quality issues.  Algae biomass does not require fossil fuel or arable land to grow, making it the perfect resource for creating useful materials.

Through implementation of BLOOM technology, Rip Curl is making a positive impact on both product and process for a more .

Rip Curl is partnered with global recycling leader TerraCycle as part of their Wetsuit Take Back Recycling Program. Surfers are encouraged to donate old wetsuits to local surf schools first, or to send them back for recycling if they have riden too many waves.

You can now recycle any surf branded wetsuit by post or at participating Rip Curl stores where they are sent to TerraCycle. All recycled rubber gets repurposed for use in the safety attenuation layer of soft fall matting used at playgrounds and outdoor gyms.

Rip Curl's F-Light range comprises a wide selection of backpacks, bags and luggage made to be ultra tough and ultra light. The F-Light series combines super-lightweight materials with ultra-durable construction to make surf travel that much easier. Hydro Protech fabric keeps water off your things, clip & connect add-ons let you easily carry extras, and recycled materials help protect the world you explore.

Surfers carry enough gear around without bags weighing us down on The Search. Negotiating customs queues, trekking along beaches, jumping boat rails - you want to stay as light as possible while minimizing your environmental impact. LESS IMPACT ON THE PLANET and LESS WEIGHT ON YOUR SHOULDERS.

Rip Curl's Anti Series Collection offers the the best selection of technical garments to protect you under all weathers and keep you warm both before and after your winter surfing session, so that you can live The Search all year long. Laminated & bonded fabrics eliminate wind chill and Durable Water Repellent (DWR) treatments protect you through rain & storms keeping you dry.

Blending beach DNA with technical mountain wear, the collection consists of outerwear, rain jackets, puffers and fleece that will cover you from shorelines to fresh tracks and back. Team tested, the Rip Curl Anti-Series range was built out of the need to be drier, warmer and more comfortable in a wider range of conditions while on The Search.
